Anti-matter weapons
Anti-matter weapon stores a small of anti-matter in a containment field held inside the power cell of the shoots. When the trigger is depressed, a bit anti-matter is released slamming into the target, causing massive damage when matter and anti-matter collide.
Cryo Weapons
Firing a bolt of super cold gas, the instantly freezes flesh on contact and turns some kinds of armor brittle, Cryo weapons are a common sight on many civilized worlds of known space.
Plasma Weapons
Plasma weapon shoots a small ball of super-heated gas. When the gas ball hits a target, it causes all but toughest of armor, to melt and exposed flesh to instantly burn.

Running across a dead body is a fairly common thing in most fantasy roleplaying games. Discovering a dead body can serve as a plot hook, a red herring, or be simple dungeon dressing. Since the dead body was once a living one, they are usually carrying something on them before they met their untimely end. Below is a list of items that one might find of a dead body.


1. A summons to the court of a local noble

2. A six-inch-long key

3. A false treasure map

4. A leather pouch filled with 4 cp and 1 sp

5. A love note from the dead person’s lover

6. A small bag with 2 days of rotting rations

7. A set of flint and steel

8. A single iron spike

9. A big of bread with black mold that acts as a contact poison

10 Plot hooks for your 5e campaign

A Dungeon Master can always use more plot hooks for their game; here are a handful of plot hooks to help when your lacking inspiration.


The city is ablaze
While eating your morning breakfast at the local inn, you smell smoke. Man burst in the front screaming fire, fire, the city is on fire.


Bandits attack
The black hand bandit gang has taken over a nearby temple and it local for a mighty magical sword buried in the catacombs below the temple.


A ghost apparition
A ghost of a little girl has been seen down by the docks, and several sailors have been reported missing.


A strange sight
A flock of ravens in the thousands has amassed outside of the city what could it mean?


A dark omen
A green comet has appeared in the sky, and with it, a terrible plague has begun to ravage the county


Livestock attacked
An old farmers’ cows were attacked in the barn last night, and whatever did it was massive.


Men in black
The local grave digger reported see several people in black robes in the cemetery last night, and when the grave digger approached them, black robed people vanished into thin air.


Tunnels beneath the city
An earthquake last night has caused the road to collapse near the inn where the heroes are staying, the hole in the street reveals a system of old tunnels beneath the city.


Death of a leader
The leader of the local thieves’ guild has been assassinated, and the city is chaos as factions in the guild vie for power


A lost city
The lost city of the dwarven lords has been discovered, and now an expedition is being mounted to bring back the rumored riches of the dwarves of old.

6 Minor Magical Swords


Six magical swords with minor magical effects


Magical swords are commonplace in most sword and sorcery ttrpgs. Here are six swords with minor enchantments on them. These swords are perfect for a pc's first magic item or red herrings for a savvy dungeon master.

The blade of heatless flame
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

When this long sword is drawn from its scabbard the blade bursts into heatless blue flame. The blue flame is extinguished when the sword is returned to its scabbard.

The shadow blade
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

The skull adorned long sword has once particular feature its blade is permanently covered in shadow. Even light enhancing spells do not affect the shadow on this blade.

Sword of eldritch energy
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

This elegant rapiers blade is sheathed in eldritch lightning-like energy. The eldritch lightning on the blade causes no damage besides causing the targets creatures hair to stand on end.

Sword of swamp water
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

This rusted long sword dips a greenish-brown fluid that smells like food rotting when drawn from its scabbard.

The lion's roar
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

While holding this ornate Katana, a bellowing roar of a lion let loose from the sword when the wielder steps into a new fighting stance.

Sword of the Chilling touch
Weapon (long sword), uncommon

This frost cover scimitar is chill to the touch and causes other materials to frost over if left on them for a 1 minute. If a creature holds the blade or is in contact with the blade for a minute or more, the creature takes 1 cold damage for each minute holding or is in contact with the blade of the sword.

It can be difficult coming up will plot hooks or even encounter hooks here are a handful of plot hooks to help when your lacking inspiration.


The king is dead

You awake to find out that the king or ruler of the land was assassinated last night. As you finish your breakfast in the local tavern, soldiers of crown burst into the tavern seeking to arrest the heroes on suspicion of killing the king.

The wells are tainted, and people are sick

The entire village of Laeroc has come down with a wasting sickness. Villagers are starting to die, and all signs point to the village well as the source of the sickness.


Bounty hunt: an old friend

While checking on the local bounty board, the heroes discover an old friend is being sought for heinous crimes, and the bounty is in the thousands of gold pieces.

The shrine’s sacred relic has been stolen

A small shrine in a village of Laeroc has been looted by thieves. The shrines sacred relic is a powerful magic item the contains a bound demon of great power

A risky proposition

A local mage is fond of studying beasts and monsters and is interested in hiring a band of heroes to bring back a live owlbear.

A man in black

A stranger dressed in black entered the town at dusk. The next morning the bodies of several nobles were found dead, and the stranger in black is nowhere to be found.
